Kinesio is a therapeutic taping company that goes beyond the design and manufacture of tape to lead the way in research and educational services for doctors and patients around the world. Designed to mimic the skin, Kinesio tape is known for its comfort, its healing power and its flexibility.
Though Kinesio Tape has most noticeably been used by professional athletes and their trainers in recent years, it was originally developed for arthritis patients by Dr. Kenzo Kase, a chiropractor. Dr. Kase found that he could relieve patients’ joint pain in the office, but the effects disappeared as muscles and joints shifted when patients left. He tried every athletic tape on the market, but they all restricted patients’ movement, pulled on the skin, and caused painful irritation.
Dr. Kase knew there had to be a better way, so he enlisted the help of product engineers. Together they developed Kinesio Tape, gentle enough for children and the elderly and tough enough for fitness fanatics and elite athletes.
